Evening Snow on Hira, Lake Biwa

近江八景「比良暮雪」

Mount Hira slopes in evening snowfall, lake surface muted to cold gray — Evening Snow on Hira, Lake Biwa. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (public domain).

Hira’s evening snow bleaches the mountain into layered quiet. Snow and evening tags together cool both land and water to a single winter tone.

Snow plus evening tags — compare white accumulation with Karasaki’s dark rain.

Follow where snow meets open lake; negative space becomes cold air.

Study Hira ridge silhouette — simpler than storm views, heavier in mood.
