Tama River in Musashi Province

武州玉川（冨嶽三十六景）

Ferry landing with people watering horses, Fuji resting quietly in the far background — Tama River in Musashi Province. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (public domain).

Musashi Province’s Tama River shows Fuji not as spectacle but as habit — the mountain belongs to the same world as ferry work and thirsty horses.

Figures, water, and mountain share the distant view — measure living distance to the peak.

Notice how mundane activity lowers Fuji from icon to neighborhood backdrop.

Compare human scale here with the lumbermen dwarfed by trees in Tōtōmi Province.
